Ashburton Guardian Office, Monday afternoon. Mr Alfred Harrison reports his weekly sale ending Saturday, October 3 35 follows: There was a good entry in cows in profit and to calve, a large proportion being sold at from L 5 2S fid, LS 10s, to L 6; yearling-, 295; calves 6s to 14s. Pigs were in good demand. I sow, 365; weaners, 10 at 9s 9d, 7 at 7s, 3 at 13s 3 at ns, 2 at 9s 3d, 2 at 9s, 2 at Ss gd, 4 at 10s 3d, 4at 9s gd, 2at ios, 2at 8s gd. Fowls, as 4d to 3s; ducks, 3s to 3s fid pair. Produce —Blue Derwent Potatoes, 5s to 6s fid, bags extra; chick wheat, 2s bushel; oats, 2s bushel; hams, 8d; bacon, fid lb. I had a capital sale of jewellery, etc., for Messrs I. Salek and Co., there being a good attendance throughout the day. On the Show Ground on Friday I sold 3 Johnston reapers at L4S, and many more orders are promised. This machina is bound to take a prominent place. Mr T. Bullock reports on the horse market for the week ending Saturday, October 31; — 26 horses were entered for, the day’s sale, and for anything like good stock biddings were fairly spirited, and more in proportion changed hands than at previous sales. Out of the total entry 17 were sold at the fallowing prices, viz: —A pair of medium draughts L 42, 4-year-old gelding brought L 23, draughts of rather lighter stamp suitable for farm work Ll2 10s to Llfi, do Lio 15s to Li 1, light harness horses L 6 to L 9, hacks LS 5s to L 5 15s, do of a fairly good stamp up to Li 1. Some light 2-year-olds changed hands at from L 3 10s to LS 15 s - — Landed Properties: Since my last report I have sold by auction, and privately, as follows: 1 acre 2 roods 20 parches, situated on the Town Bdt ea l t, with dwelling-house and other buildings thereon, grounds laid out and planted and occupied by Mr W. H. Gundry, brought L49S. Lot 27, containing X-acre, fronting the Alford Forest road, Llfi. Lots 28 and 29, each Xacre, adjoining the above, Ll 3 10s each. Lot 18, containing 32 perches, near the Gasworks, part of Mrs McLean’s block, Ll2 Lots 1 and 2, containing I rood 28 perches, fronting the Alford Forest road, and known as part of Ore’s block, L 42. Lot 43, containing r acre 28 perches, Alford Forest road, L 49 17s fid.
