We mote mutton for the day at to per jb. Fat Cattle—The supply of beef was in 'nSont the usual quantity. Good quality light ,’trßgfat Steers were most enquired for. We mote beef at from 183 to 21s per roolbs. Store sheep—ln store sheep the entry was a ’ small, one, comprising only two or thre: at all.: For all classes there was a very Tfrifrn demand, fend values advanced considerably.. Crossbred ewes (inferior) sold at 12s, I fhH-mouthed merino wethers at 5s sd. ’ *S TSnwald—At the Tinwald Yards, on Tneslast, the entries of stock of all classes were I Jn of recent markets. The attendance Wis good, and enquiry for all descriptions active and competition keen. There is a growing AwiimH Jbr breeding ewes and hoggets. Cross- » - bred wethers are also much enquired fcr. Prices realised show a considerable advance on late quotations. Crossbred .wethers, fat, sold at up to iSs 3d, merino wethers, from 8s to los, crossbred lambs op to 10s 4<C The following is the Christchurch Cum Exchange report for the week ending Friday, 31st mst: —The favorable weather experienced for the.jMsL few weeks has been well employed by farmers in pushing on with their farm work '■ - consequently the amount of grain and produce r»ffi-ring has been of a limited character. Really prime milling wheat —preference being given to Hunter’s and Pearl—has a good demand, bat buyers are not inclined to advance over quoted- prices. -Tuscan is wanted for shipment, but Utile that is sound is offering. Enquiries still exist for whole chick wheat. Oats have a trade consumption, but quotations are unaltered if we except prime lines of Dun which lean be placed at a slight advance for heavy clean parcels. There isno business doing in barley., Both beans and peas are saleable, but few lots are coming forward. Full rates are jpbtapaUe for good lines of rye grass, -while Cocksfoot is moving away slowly, at figures named. Derwent potatoes are still sought after, but fewareofferirg. Sydney advices Cflsfest date quote 65s (wharf) with a promising : AMwwd if the market is not overdone by indislerimjnate* consignments, while dairy produce advices state that the market is slightly easier, but up to this date it has bad no effect on our local market. .
