Ashburton Guardian Office. Thursday afternoon, Messrs Matson, Cent and Co. report upon the five stock market for the Ashburton district for the week ending July 7th, as follows: On Tuesday at the Ashburton Yards we held *' our usual weekly sale of sheep, pigs, and - ’ The weather was as bad a? could possibly be, and it being the day set apart for the declaration of the poll very little interest was %l»»n In the sale. In iat sheep there was the poorest entry we have seen, only three pens of medium fit merino wethers coming forward. In stores there was a fair entry in lambs, which was the main feature in the sale and caused some keen competition. In pigs and cattle ’ there was a very small entry; in fact, butchers were not supplied with either mutton or beef. •We quote mutton at fully ad per lb ; beef at X7s to i9sper loolb. We sold medium fat merino wethers at 7s, 7 s -t° 7? J store lambs from 6s 3d to 9s pd; crossbred ewes in . lamb, us; merino wethers, as lid; small pigs, es 9d. In cattlfc —fat steers, Ls 7s 6d to £7 123 6d.
