Friedlander. _ Clerk of the Course—G. Scott Handicappers— W. G. Ross, S. Saundsrs and M. Stitt. The first race to start at 12.30 p.m. 1. Handicap Hurdle Race, of 15 sovs ; over eight flights of hurdles about 3ft 6in high ; nomination 10s, acceptance 15a. For district horses that have been regularly huntec with the Ashburton hounds. 2 miles. 2. Hunt Club Steeplechase Ocp (handicap, minimum weight list), a trophy of the value of 40 sovs ; nomination 1 sov, acceptance 2 sovs ; open to all qualified hunters; amateur riders only. 3 miles. 3. Maiden Steeplechase Plate, of 15 sovs; weight for age ; nomination 10s, acceptance 16s; for district horses that have been regularly hunted with the Ashburton hounds. 2 miles. 4. Hunters Flat Race Handicap, of 15 sovs ; minimum weight list; nomination 10s, acceptance 15a ; open to all qualified hunters. Horses starting for this race must qualify over a hurdle to the satisfaction of the Stewards. 2 miles. 5. Consolation Handicap, of 10 sovs ; nomination 10s, acceptance free. 1 j miles. RULES AND REGULATIONS. 1. No entry will be received except on the condition that all disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by the Stewards, or whom they may appoint; their decision on all points nonnested with carrying out this programme to be final. 2. Grand National Steeplechase Rales adhered to when applicable. 3. A district horse shall mean any horse that has been commonly resident in the Ashburton County from May 7,1885, and up to the date of the forthcoming j meeting and owned by a person who has ; resided in the said County during the i same period.—A qualified hunter shall ] mean any horse that has been fairly 1 hunted, at least three times, with any i recognised pack of bounds during the < season 1885. ] 4. Five per cent, will be deducted from j the gross of all moneys payable in accord- I ance with this programme for expenses of 1 the course. <

Nominations, accompanied by fees, name, age, description of horse and colors of rider, and a master of hounds certificate as to qualification must be in the hands of the Secretary not later than 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14. 8.
