A telegram from Taopo states that 6000 sheep in three separate mobs have passed here for the northern markets- It is estimated that fully 60,000 aheap have thla season passed through Taupo from Hawke’s Bay for Auckland and the northern markets. The number of pledges taken atnoa the opening of Booth’s mission is 241. Dr Hector, at the request of the Government, forwarded by the Tohgariro three cases of Taranaki iron sand to M. De Barven at Antwerp. While in the colony, M. De Harven expressed a wish to obtain a sample of the sand to have it tested. Greymocth. The annual licensing meeting: took place to-day. Renewals were granted in all cases but one, which is adjourned for twenty-one days. The police report la good, with the exception of two houses. One (Royal) is to be considerably added to, and improved, and to enable this to be done the application is adjourned. Tho other (Lin wood) is to be entirety rebuilt. Both are amongst the oldest buildings in the town. The hour of closing in all coses is 11 p-m. Dcnedih. Mr Macandrew intends to move at the University Council that three model farms be established, one In the Northern, one in the Central, and one in the Southwestern districts.
