Dunn, a noted burglar whose sentences ■mounted to 70 yean’ imprisonment was ■meted on Saturday for disorderly conduct. When arrested he attempted to draw a revolver at the constable. ' A quantity of jewellery supposed to have been stolen, was found in his possession. Sunn was discharged from the Wellington Gaol last January. Heavy Calendar. Napikb, To-day

The criminal sessions of the Supreme Court commenced to-day. Chief Justice Pendergast presiding. The calendar is a heavy one, consisting of three charges of forgery against two prisoners ; a charge of manslaughter against a female ; horse stealing, burglary, assault and robbery, Weepy, sheep stealing, obtaining money udder false pretences end bigamy. There axe thirteen prisoners. The Tongariro. Wellington, To-day. The R.M.S. Tongariro sailed for London at seven o’clock last night. Eire. Blenheim, To-day. The billiard-room and skittle alley of * the Halfway-house Hotel, Kaitnua Valley, was destroyed by fire early on Sunday morning. The cause of the fire is unknown. Insurance—building and contents, Royal, L 230 Carpenters. A Blenheim branch of the Amalgamated Carpenters’ and Joiners’, Trade Society was started on Saturday night. The building trade is very brisk here, and the Society is likely to enrol numerous members.
