Dunn, a noted burglar whose sentences ■mounted to 70 yean’ imprisonment was ■meted on Saturday for disorderly conduct. When arrested he attempted to draw a revolver at the constable. ' A quantity of jewellery supposed to have been stolen, was found in his possession. Sunn was discharged from the Wellington Gaol last January. The HinemoaArrived—Hinemoa, from Wellington at five yesterday morning. She leaves with the Auckland memben at three tomorrow.
Heavy Calendar. Napikb, To-day
The criminal sessions of the Supreme Court commenced to-day. Chief Justice Pendergast presiding. The calendar is a heavy one, consisting of three charges of forgery against two prisoners ; a charge of manslaughter against a female ; horse stealing, burglary, assault and robbery, Weepy, sheep stealing, obtaining money udder false pretences end bigamy. There axe thirteen prisoners. The Tongariro. Wellington, To-day. The R.M.S. Tongariro sailed for London at seven o’clock last night. Eire. Blenheim, To-day. The billiard-room and skittle alley of * the Halfway-house Hotel, Kaitnua Valley, was destroyed by fire early on Sunday morning. The cause of the fire is unknown. Insurance—building and contents, Royal, L 230 Carpenters. A Blenheim branch of the Amalgamated Carpenters’ and Joiners’, Trade Society was started on Saturday night. The building trade is very brisk here, and the Society is likely to enrol numerous members.

Fatal Accidents.

Two fatal accidents are reported from the Northern district. An old man named Edmond Robinson was ran over by a boras and boggy near Rangiora on Saturday night, and died shortly after.—The same evening Mias Wright, daughter of Mr Robert Wright, was thrown from a hnggyonthe road from Ob oka to KaiapoL She never regained consciousness, and died in a few hours. The lonic arrived at tbe heads at 1 a. m and crossed the bar. at 9 a m. ; draught, 21ft aft, 17ft Sin forward. The passage, including detentions, occupied 43 days 5 hours 16 minutes; mean steaming time from Plymouth to Capetown, 29 days 13 honra 6 minutes ; Plymouth to Hobart, 38 days 11 boars 43 minutes ; and to Taiaroa Heads, 43 days. The passage baa been a fine weather one, with the exception of a heavy southerly gale on .Uey 18 compelling her to heave to for 15 hoars. She brings 2,500 tons of cargo, a third for Dunedin; 7 bags of mails from Plymouth, and 1 from the Cape. Her WO passengers have enjoyed gool health. No births or deaths.
