THE LATE ROBBERY.

At the p olico Court this morning TT Allendale, arrested at Chriatchaich lor the jewellery robbery hare, waa brought up, urban it waa found that ha had contested to the crime. He taut for n detective at 9 o'clock this morning and stated to him that he (Allendale) committed the burglary at 1 a.m. on the 27 b. He out through the door and finding the coast clear cook every thing he could conveniently carry away. He was not, as first supposed, disturbed. He got clear with a large number of articles and placing them in an old whisky keg, buried them at the back of the premises attached to the Te Aro hotel, at which place be had been employed as a waiter. It was bis intention to have proceeded to bydnay and dispose of the articles, but not being'' possessed of sufficient ready cash be decided to c me to Christchurch to raise funds by pawning or selling a few old watches. Allendale says he left for Lyttelton the same day as the robbery wss committed, and in Ohriatehnroh he disposed of four gold watches and three gold alberta. He waa about to retain to Wellington and then remove the remainder of the 11 swag ” to Sydney, when he was arrested.
