DARING BANK ROBBERY.

A moat daring robbery was committed this morniQt; aboai ten o’clock at Simpson’s road bra-ioh of the National Bank of \ustrslasia, which had closed yesterday afternoon wi h no money on the premises* On arrival of Humphries the manager of t,he branch, accompanied by Bradahew his oierk, from the chief establishment, r>eanog LI ,000, joth were attacked by tbro-j msaked men. t*o of whom presented re-olvers, whilnt the third brandished a crowbar. Humpk-ie* and Bradehav were overawed by the mddenness of the attack dOj threatening manner of the robbers. Both officials were knocked down and their bands securely strapped behind their aacks The manager's revolver was than t.ken from hie person, and the robbers decamped with LI,OOO, leaving the victims lying helpless on the ground. Humphries and Bradshaw subsequently were released by a passer-by. Information of the robbery was immediataly given to the police. The nombers of the notes stolen an not know!. Latar' information statu that the total »m«ict taken by the robbers from the Simpson’s, road Bank officials is LI ,155, of which L 955 wu In notes, LIOO in gold, and the balance in silver. No clue baa yet been discovered to the identify of the robbers.. Tha numbers of the notu cannot babe ascertained.

Farther particulars published regarding the Simpson’s road Bank robbery show that theaffair was prepared and carried into execntion. Tha robbers effected an entrance into tha building through the windows, and awaited the arrival of the manager and assistant inside the Bank. The attack was so sadden that resistance wu impossible on the part of Hi# victims, who wecegagged and bound hand and foot, and under tbs table when eventually discovered; The total proceeds of the robbery amount to LI, 166.
