COURSING.

A private coursing match was held at South Rakaia yesterday. Mr W. L. Allan very kindly placed the Acton Estate at the disposal of the prompters of the sport, and hares were found in great numbers. The weather was everything that could be desired, and nearly 200 persons, including a large number of ladies, were present, and appeared to thoroughly enjoy the day’s onting. Mr C. A. O. Hardy liberally gave silver caps for the All-aged and Poppy Stakes, and at the conclusion of the sport hearty cheers were given for Mr Allan, Mr Hardy and the officers. Mr James Mediae acted as judge, and gave (he utmost satisfaction in that capacity. Mr Toovey, as slipper, was very successful; and Mr Matter was ait fait ia# flag steward. The coursing was really good, the first trial between St Mungo and For-get-me-not, which resulted in an undecided, creating much excitement. The final between St Mungo and Hazel was also a very severe. trial, and the format won by sheer merit. The following are the details :

All-Aged Stakes. First Round. Bt Mango beat Leonora Forget-me-not beat Periolea Hazel beat Ivey Second Round. St Mungo beat Forget-me-not Hazel ran a bye Final Found. St Mungo beat Hazel and won the stake.

Puppy Stakes. First Round. Lady Bird beat Young Pickles Brian Bern beat Kitty Otair Fly beat Young Derby Beast beat Flora Second Bound. Brian Boru beat Lady Bird Beast beat Fly

Final Course. Brian Boro beat Beast, and von the stake and silver cup.
