MOUNT HUTT ROAD BOARD.

The first meeting of the newly-elected Mount Hutt Road Board was held in the

Road Board Office, Methven, yesterday. Pre-ent—Messrs J. Jackson, D. Cameron, \V. McMillan and G, H. Alington. The Clerk took the chair, and read a letter from the Returning Officer giving the names of those who had been elected members of the Board.

Mr McMillan proposed, Mr Cameron seconded, and it was carried unanimously—“ That Mr J. Jackson be re-elected Chairman ” The newly-elected Chairman, on taking the chair, thanked the members for their renewal of confidence, and assured them that he would always endeavour to promote the welfare of the district as he had done hitherto, and that he was gratified to see that his past efforts had been so much appreciated. The Chairman and Mr Cameron were appointed a deputation to wait upon the Mount Somers Road Board, and arrange with them as to the division of funds consequent upon the alterations in the boundaries of the two districts, as provided for in sections No. 5 and 9 of the Road Boards Act, 1882. It was resolved that the present fixed deposit, which had matured, be placed to the credit of the current account.

The Overseer was instructed to attend to some urgent repairs on several roads. It was resolved that the ordinary monthly meetings of the Board be held on the second Friday in each month. The Board then adjourned until Friday, June 12.
