Auckland. Mr J. McGregor, of Dunedin, was appointed Harbor Board Engineer on the casting vote of the Chairman. There were 21 applications. In the Appeal Court to-day the case of the Bank of Australasia against Wilson (Wanganui) was called on. The case related to a bill of exchange given by defendant in favor of Mr Jackson as security to the Bank. Argument was not concluded when the Court rose. The argument in Rogiua v Waring Taylor will bo taken next.

Dunedin. The son of Captain Sinclair of the Plucky, was severely injured on board the Te Anau. by being struck by a block of wood he was carrying, caused by his foot slipping. He is in a very precarious state. At the Land Board meeting it was decided that 24 deferred payment settlers be called upon to show cause why their holdings should not be forfeited for nonpayment of rent.

Mr Mouat, the solicitor of the petitioners who asked for the recent dummyism enquiry, has requested the Land Board to forward to the Minister of Lands the evidence taken, and suggests that, looking at the resolution passed, the Board shculd recommend the Minister to secure a filler and more comprehensive enquiry.
