Ashburton Guardian Office, Monday afternoon, Mr T. Bullock reports on the horse market for the week ending Saturday, May gth : There was an average attendance of farmers and others, and a large number of horses were entered, viz. 35, but mostly of a light description or aged horses, for which class of stock .here is not a very good demand. Out of the 3S yarded I succeeded in disposing of 16 at the following prices, viz. Draughts of a good stSMUP> aged, brought Ll 3, Ll 4 and Li 4 ; medium draughts aged, from Lg l to . 11 10 ; two and three-year-old colts and fillies ot » light description from’Lß 16s to Lio ; hacks and light harness horses, L 6, L 6, L 6 5s and L 7 I os; two and three-year-old hacks unbroken, from LS to I 7 10s. Implements: Spcond-hand doub e-furrow ploughs, from L 3 ICstoLg. Harness and sundries sold well. On Wednesday last I held a clearing sale of horses, cattle, etc., at Mr Peter Peteison’s farm, Alford Forest. There was a large attendance of settlers and others, and a large entry of horses and cattle, viz., about 40 horses and 40 head of cattle. Out of the horses I sold a number of young unbroken draught horses from L 8 to Ln ; a number of unbroken hacks at from L 4 to Ly. The whole of the cattle were disposed of at ftill market rates; viz.:—Two-year-old steers brought L 4 each ; itore cdws from Lz 10s to L 3 17s 6d yearlings, 355; springers brought up to L 6 ss.
