Ashburton Guardian Office, JFriday afternoon. The following is the Christchurch Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, the Blh inst:—Rather unfavorable weather has been experienced during the past week for threshing and delivering operations, and grain is still coming forward in a very unmarl- etable condition. Prime, sound milling lines of Pearl and Hunter’s meet with ready sale among local millers, but Tuscan is rather dull, and is nearly .all going into store on growers’ account; Very large quantities of second quality are coming into the market, but it is almost an Impossibility to quit them except at chick feed prices. ■ .Milling and bright short feed oats find" re&dy purchasers at quotations given below, as do also Tartarian seed, clean and tm to .name, but long and discolored feed are 1 difficult to sell, there being only a limited enquiry. among local dealers. In barley the same stagnation as noted in last week’s report still exists. A few shipping lines have been taken at slightly reduced rates. Beans this year are of superior quality, but only meet wiihmoderate demand at the hands of buyers. Peas are ne-" gketed, except for prime Prussian Blues which could be placed. Clean, bright, farmers’ parcels of grass seed are enquired for, machine-dressed is being held over for the spring demand.
