Ashburton Guardian ffffice, Wednesday afternoon, Messrs Matson, Cox and Co. report upon the live stock market for the A shburton district, for the week ending May sth, as follows: O ' Tuesday we held our usual we kly sale of sheep, cattle, and pigs at the Tinwald Y rds. for sheep was again a very small ( OW, and -the bidding remarkably weak. In cattle, however, there was a much larger entry thw .usual, and the demand for fat stock or really forward stores was a marked improvement,. In pigs business was not quite so brisk and a really good line of bacon pigs was turned cut unsold. We quote mutton at 2d per lb, beef 17s'to ifs per xoolbs. Fat crossbred ewes sold from 6s gd to lOS 6d ; crossbred 2-tooth ewes, 10s 3d to 10s 6d ; sound mouth merino ewes, in poor condition, 5s id j store merino wethers, 3s lid. In cattle—Fat heifers, L 6 5s to L 4 12s 6d ; springers, L 8 to L 5 12s 6d ; yeatlings, Ll 16s to Li 2s fid; store steers, L 3, L 3 17s fid, [L3 14s, Pigs—Porkers, Li 12S fid.
