Salmon Ova- ‘ Wellington, To-day. Mr S. 0. Farr, the Secretary of the Canterbury Acclimatisation Society, who has returned by the Kaikoura, brings about 100,000 healthy salmon ova full of vitality. Canterbury, Timatu, Oamaru, Dunedin, Wellington,. Wairarapa, and Napier are districts which hare subscribed towards the expense, and many of these, ova will be distributed pro rata as early as can be arranged. Declined- , Blenheim, To-uay. The Defence Minister has declined to accept the services of the proposed Wairao Cavalry, on the ground that the stock of 'arms in store is limited, and not equal tb arming those corps which ere urgently required.
