BRYCE v. RUSDEN.
Wellington, Last Night.
A commission has been issued from the High Court of Chancery in the libel suit Bryce v Rusdon, appointing the Hon FatrickAlphonsus Buckley, Commissioner to represent plaintiff, and the Hon Joseph A. Tole, Commissioner to represent defendant in taking evidence in New Zealand relative to the action. A sitting of the Commission will probably be held in Wanganui about May 8 to take evidence. In the meantime an application has been made to the Hon Colonial Secretary to have exhumed the bodies of Maori women and children, who, it was alleged in Mr Rusder's History, had been ruthlessly sabred by Cavalry under Mr Bryce. This request has been acceded on condition of all parties agreeing to it. The Colonial Secretary’s stipulation is that the examinations shall be conducted in the presence of medical men nominated by him. The whole of the parties concerned hare agreed to this.
