THE RUSSO-AFGHAN DIFFICULTY

The Standard this morning publishes a telegram from its special correspondent with General Lurasden to the effect that the Russian troops have occupied Maruchak, a position on the river Murghab, twenty miles south ot Penjdeh. No details are, however, given with regard to the occurrence, (Received April 2, 11a.m.) London, April 29
In the House of Commons last night Lord Edmund Fitzmaurice, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, announced that the Government had received a telegram from General Lumsden, dated Sunday, April 26th, in which he stated that the Russian troops were advancing up the valley of Murghab, and had occupied Maruchak.
