JAMES McGREGOR, Tancred Street 12 2342 WAR WITH RUSSIA.—At the present juncture it would be difficult for any one except a prophet of the highest rank to say whether or not the present negotiations between England and Russia will lead to a general European war, or whether they will end in smoke. The absence of full information as to what j is transpiring between the two countries may indicate that the political breeze is blowing harmlessly past; or, it may be the awful silence which generally precedes a storm. In either case, we ought to be prepared for the worst. If a general war breaks out the price of nearly every article of commerce will rise. Among other commodities wool and labor will go up. Kow is ti e time, therefore, to lay in a slock of clothing, before the general advance begins.
