SAMOAN ANNEXATION.
♦ (By Tel* graph ) Wellington, To-day. The Act passed by the Samoan Govern ment annexing that island to New Zealand, provides “ That all the preliminary expenses shall (be paid out of unauthorised expenditure, pending a vote of the New Zea and Parliament for the purpose of giving immediate effect to the annexation of these our islands to New Zealand. As the Samoan Government has no funds or revenue of its own the Bill shall taka effect from the date of King M dietoa’s signature and seal and give effect to the annexation of a Samoan Island in accordance with the Annexat on Bill passed in It 83 by the New Zealand Parliament, or to any Bill that it may be necessary to pass by ihe New Z 9 aland Pa'liament to give effect to the Bill and annexation and for the better Government of the Samoan Islands and of the Sampan people.” It was signed and sealed on the 9th of February, 1885, by Selu, the Secretary and Clerk to the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament; Manati (His x mark), Speaker of the Samoan Parliament; and Malietoa, King of Samoa.
