The third annual meeting of the Can* terbury Frozen Meat Company was held in Christchurch yesterday. Mr John Grigg, chairman of the Board of Directors, presided. The statement of accounts showed a net profit of L 2.937 14s Id as the result of the year’s operations, and the report, which was adopted, recommended a dividend of 8 per cent , and a transfer of sufficient to the reserve fund to raise it to L 2.000. In another column appears notes from Southland, contributed by a Southland farmer, who for some time was resident in the Longbeach district. It is probable that the proposed excursion train from Ashburton to Christchurch 1 and Lyttelton will, as recommended by His Worship the Mayor, run on April 7th or Btb, but the precise date is not yet * fixed. E. May & Co., of _ the Hall, High street, for £954, or only a little over one-third of its value. H. E. M. and Co. are now selling it at half the marked price, which surely ought to seenre a speedy O clearance.
