About two thousand natives were present at the Parihaka mee+ing yesterday, but there was no speechifying during the day. Te Whiti declined to give an address on account of the Europeans being present. A great feast took pi tee, and the waiters were in liveries. A number of Waikato natives were present, and a private korero took place last evening. The Maoris have not yet taken possession of the Armed Constabulary quarters at Parihaka. Arrived. Wellington, To-day. Arrived—The Hauroto, from Sydney. Defence. About one hundred Armed Constabulary have been called to Wellington for the purpose of being instructed in heavy gun drill in connection with the defence of the various ports o f the colony. Fire. Blenheim, To-day. Mr Thomas Davies’s mill, used for chaff cutting, bat which had not been in operation since last winter, was burned down during Monday n : ght. There is no insurance, and the cause of the fire is unknown.
