UNIVERSITY SENATE.
Auckland, Last Night,
At the sittings of the Senate of the New Zealand University Professor Cook was elected a Fellow. The examiners appointed to deal with the competition for the Bowen prize reported in favor cf the paper marked “ Omega,” and assigned second place to the paper marked “ Dcm Spiro Spero;” The former was found to be Margaret Lorimer. of Canterbury College. It was agreed to award her the prize, and to enter the writer of “Dum Spiro Spero” (Alfred A. Meek, of Canterbury College) upon the calendar of proxime access it. The subject set for competition was “ A comparative and historical review of the Constitutional relations of the British Colonies.’’ The Committee on affiliated institutions report to the Senate of the University that three of those institutions are not fulfiling the conditions of the affiliation, viv ;—St John’s College, Auckland ; Nelson College; and Bishopdale College, Nelson.
