i Ashburton Guardian Office, Wednesday afternoon, j Messrs Matson, Cox and Co. report upon - the live stock market for the Ashburton district: —On Tuesday, at the Tinwald Yards, we held our usual weekly sale of sheep, cattle and f pigs. There was a fair entry of sheep, but the - attendance of buyers was very small, farmers 1 fw'ng all too busy looking after their crops to think of anything else. In cattle there was.a £ medium entry, and in fat cattle not hardly sufficient for tnde requirements. We quote . mutton at 2d per lb, beef ißs to 20s per loolb. In fat sheep fat merino wethers sold at bs 6d, Crossbred ewes 9 s tud, crossbred wethers 9® ] ltd to tos 6d, merino ewes 6s. In stores — ( broken mouth merino ewes 3s gd, fair mouths es 2d, almost the whole of this description of stock was turned out unsold. Fat leers L 6 r s . L 6. Fat heifers LS to L 5 tos 6d, yearlings ' Ll 14s.
