In a case which came before him in Chambers, Judge Fawcett said he would not ofier any opiniou on the action of the Government in sending the expedition, except from a legal stand-point; and to his mind it was quite clear that the Go- . vernor, before enlisting an army force, must have the authority of Parliament to enable him to do so, the Legislature alone fixing the number. There has been no further development of smallpox. The Ringarooma’s passengers are still detained in quarantine. The hot weather has given way to refreshing showers. Brisbane, March 5.
