He waa, however, beaten at the sheds, and collapsed at the home turn, where Bingwood came up with a rush and won by three-quarters of a length from Sheet Anchor, after a most exciting race. Time —4min l£sec. Malua has been scratched for all events at this meeting.

Awatea cut out the running. Pawing the post for the first time, Sir Bedirere took the lead and tan very etrongly. Half a mile from home Sir Bedirere, Fusilier, and Clogs ran in the order named, the two first whipping. Ologa made an effort to reach the leader, but was twice baulked. The finish a grand one. Fusilier winning on the post, Clogs a good, third. Time, 2min 42 l-sth see. Dividend—ln* side, L2 18s; outside, L2 14s.
