The Native Minister. The Native Minister has left Waikato for Pukekohoe, where he is a guest of Major Harris.

The Hawea with the Whgliah mail is expected to arrive hero at seven this evening. The Manapouri leaves at nine to-night with tne Southern portion.
FireDunedin, Yesterday. A cottage on the'Port Chalmers Peninsula, owned by J. E. Hooper, was burned down this afternoon. It was occupied by Mr W. Heney, of the Postal and Telegraph Department. Both house and furniture were insured. Mr Hooper estimates his loss at LSO above the insurance, and Mr Heney loses a similar sum. Minister of Public Works. The Bon. E. Richardson, who arrived on Friday night, received one or two small deputations yesterday, and went on by train to-day to Invercargill. He will visit the Lakes and return to Dunedin next Friday, making a stay of a few days. Hon. Mr Stuart. The Hon Mr Stuart, Premier of New South Wales, who arrived at the Bluff on Friday, has gone on a visit to the Lakes. A Large Record. A woman, named Bridget Kane, with uo less than 190 previous? convictions reoorded agajnst her, leaeifedthree months Oh Saturday for drunkenness,
