WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.
Dcnediv, Yesterday.
The opening session of the Conference took place this evening in Trinity Church, a large number of the public being in attendance. The retiring President, the* Rev W. Morley, delivered an address reviewing the events of the past year. By an almost unanimous vote the Rev Joseph Berry (Dunedin) was raised to the chqjr, and the Rev U. Bull was re-elected Secretary of the Conference. A Presbyterian deputation was received from the Synod. A resolution of welcome was heartily adopted! It was resolved that letters of affectionate esteem be sent to the Revs James Wallis, John Aldred and George Stannard, who, on account ■of advancing years, were unable to be present at the Conference. The results of the examination of the probationers were read. The highest number of marks has been secured by the Rev J. T. Pinfold, and the highest average by the Rev0. H. Garland. The third highest number of marks falls to the Rev G. Marshall. The Revs Garland, Parsonson, Pinfold and Slade were recommended-for ordination, -subject to the result of oral, examination. The following probationers for the ministry passed in their respective years ;—Revs Jones, Wills, Marshall, and Mather; Revs Griffi h and Dean conditionally. The first station sheet, which is subject to amendment on second and third readings, was brought up. The following refers to the
