ACCIDENT.
Wellington, Yesterday, n accident occurred about four o'clock this afternoon on tho Wellington-Mana-watu Railway Company’s works at Pukarau, about 24 miles ftom town, which resulted in three men being buried underneath a fall of earth in a tunnel. It appears twelve men ware working in a tunnel on Mr Brown’s contract, when the timbers suddenly gave way, and a large quantity of earth fell. Nine managed to escape, but tho other thros were, when tho last report was despatched to town, still entombed. Their names are Peter George, Henry Lloyd and Mathew Panz »- doth. The voice of the last-named can be heard, and he states that he can hear one of the other unfortunate men groaning, but is unable to tell which. Dr Gil'on’left'in' the steamer Tui this evening, and will be laudpd close to the 1 spot where tho accident occurred,' Wellington, To-day. Tho lolief gang at Puke ua have uncovered Pandazotti sufficiently to nourishment being given to him. It ia not expected the other men jvill bg peaouod alive.
