Dunedin, Last night. At the New Zealand University Convocation the following resolution was carried unanimously on the motion of Mr Chilton That in the opinion of this convocation the members of the Senate of the University of New Zealand should be elected for a fixed term not exceeding five years.” A motion of Mr Chilton was also carried suggesting to the Senate that no change in the arrangement or regulations of the examinations of the University shall take effect until after at least twelve months’ notice. A motion by Mr Wilkinson was carried, asking that the Senate be requested to ascertain from the Trustees whether the. Gilchrist Scholarship is open to women, with the view of extending the privilege to them.
