DynamiteAn explosion of dynamite occurred last night on the underground Metropolitan Railway, between King’s Cross and Gower street stations. The explosion occurred while the train was passing the spot. The carriage windows were all broken, and the tunnel slightly damaged. A few passengers were cut by the broken glass, but none were seriously injured. Monetary and Commercial. QConsols remain at The readstuffs market cotinues to advance.
To-day’s quotations are as follow: Adelaide wheat, ex store, 38s ; New Zealand ditto, 30s to 355; Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 24s 6d. The total quantity of wheat on passage and ip shipping for the United Kingdom is 1,900,000 quarters, being a decrease during the week of 50,000 quarters. Prime New Zealand frozen mutton is selling at Australian tallow, average quality—Beef, 345; ditto mutton, 34s 6d.

Off coast cargoes of New Zealand wheat are quoted at 31s 6d.

Tenders have been called for the New Zealand Government Loan of a million sterling, bearing interest at the rate of 4 per cent The minimum is fixed at 97 Tenders will be opened on Friday, 9th of January. It is believed in well informed circles here that Prince Bismarck will acquiesce in the proposal to establish a British protectorate over Saint Lucia, notwithstanding claims which have been put forward by Luberitz and Co., of Bremen, to the land on which the British flag was hoisted.
