Auckland, Saturday.

The Steeplechase was run over again at Ellerslie to-day, and 2,000 people were present. Great interest was taken in it, and the public were rewarded by witnessing one of the grandest contested races in the colony, Linwood, the winner, only getting up in the last two strides, and winning by a neck.

It was found necessary to shoot the last named in consequence of the injuries received on the previous day. The flap; fell to a good start, Alario jumping off with the lead, King second and Julia Ann next, the others in close attendance. The hurdle at the top of the hill was negotiated successfully by all except Wide Awake, who baulked repeatedly.
