The following alterations in the ordinary time table wi.i be made for the Ist January, 1885 : In lieu of the 7.30 am. train from Timaru to Ashburton, and the 10.55 a m. from Ashburton to Christchurch, a train vi ill run as under : Timaru .. The evening train from Christchurch to Ashburton will start at 450 p.m., and run 35 minutes later than usual.

The evening train from Timaru to Ashburtoji will leave at 6 30 p.m., and run 55 minutes later than usual. A special passenger train will leave Ashburton for Winslow in connection with the Winslow Races and Sports) at 10.45 a.m., arriving there at 11.5 a.m , returning at 6 15 p.m., arriving at Ashburton at 635 p.m., stopping at Tinwald it required. Carriages cannot be guaranteed for this train, but a sufficient number of seated trucks will be provided. Passengers cannot be booked between Ashburton and Winslow by the express trains on this date, as there will not be room for a number of local passengers. On January 2nd the evening train from Timaru to Ashburton will leave at 5 3d p m., and run 55 minutes later than usual. Goods traffic will be suspended on Ist January. Fares as already notified.
