Messrs Miles and Co. report on the Timvald live stock market for the week ending 16th December as follows :—O > ing to the sale day being recognised as a public holiday, the entries and attendance suffered in consequence, although it soon became apparent that those who attended meant busintss ss scarcely a line was withdrawn, and fair prices were realised fob’sheep; cattle, however, S"ld at rather lower prices than have been ruling, and several lots were passed in. The total entry was 68 head of cattle and 3,733 sheep. Fat sheep consis'ed chiefly of merino wethers, shorn, of which we sojld several pens at 9s to 8s gd ; mixed croscbreds at ns lod, while a small line brought 12s 4'd.. In stores the bulk comprised chiefly shpni two-tooths, of which we sold a well grown 1 line of wethers at 12s gd, while, inferior lines brought 12s 6d, 12s and lis 2d. A linfe’ of* mixed two and four-tooths brought 13s 3«i; half-bred ewes wifh 95 per cent, of lambs brought 20s ; merino ewes in wool, dry, 7s 4d. "We? sold a line of 400 small hoggets in wool at 10s;6d. There was rather a small entry in cattle.* Fat steers realised L 4 17s 6d to L 6 2s 6dj.heifers and cows, I 4 7 s 6d to L 5 ; stores, L% 3d to L2 i2s 6d ; yearlings, 28s to 355..
