Ashburton Guardian Office, Monday afternoon. ; lifr TV Bullock reports on the horse, market .fa* the. week ending Saturday, December 13: There "was a large entry of horses, viz., 40 including draughts, light harness horses,, hacks, and .a few- unbroken. There was about an average attendance of farmers and others, but biddings were langui l except for a few of the '-"best yomig ones, and those of this class entered ' brought foil values, but for medium draughts ‘’’there appeared to be really no buyers. This 1 can be accounted for to a certain extent by the ■ absence of buyers for the Sydney market, ■ which theystate is fully supplied at present, and until there is some-outlet I am afraid markets here Will continue dull. Possibly .'there may be a few required for harvest work, but farmers as a rule operate very cautiously ,ahd decline to purchase at what they consider high prices asked for those brought forward 'for sale, and I would advise settlers if they • Wish to quit inferior stock to lower their re■’■serves-. Out of the total numberjentered, viz , 40, II only were disposed of. Medium 'draughts, pretty good four-year-olds, Ll 9 to .L 22 : do. rather lighter, up to Ll 7. Two (three-year-olds, rather light, L 8 xos to Lli; Rgjed and. inferior draughts, L 8 to Lio 10s; .light harness horses, L6to L 9 10s; hacks, L$ 45s to.. L 6 ios.
