Ashburton Guardian Office, Thursday af:emoon ; Messrs Friedlander Bros, (in conjunc;ion with Messrs Robert Wilkin and to.) report upon the live stock market for the week ending December lo'h, viz.:—The usual weekly sale was held at the Ashburton yards on Tuesday, when large entries of sheep came forward, numbering about 7,000, and consisting mostly of shorn hoggets, for which competition vas very keen. All the fat sheep were sold with the exception of a pen or two, which did not re. alise the owner’s reserve, but the tone of the market, taking it right through, was very satisfactory. In fat sheep we placed a small line of muted crossbreds at 13s 6d; merino wethers in the wool brought 10s Jd ; shorn crossbred hoggets made 10s 2d and 11s 8d ; in stores we sold a splendid line of 1,201 crossbred sheep at 16s. In fat cattle the entries were fairly good, but the biddings were anything but brisk, a-d a number were turned out unsold. Fat COV* made I 4 los and L$ ; dry heifers in forward condition, L3ssto L 4 103; young store ■steers, we sold a small line, at 37s 6d each. In pigs we sold Bat 13s, 4at x6s, 2at 7s-6i each. •
