1. Maiden Feats, of 15 sots ; weight for age ; entrance, 1 sot. Distance, li miles. 2. Handicap Hurdle Face, of 25 sots (over six flights cf hurdles, about 3ft Gin high), and a sweep of 1 sor each, to be paid to the Secretary before 9 p. m. the night before the races; to go to the second horse Distance, 1£ miles. Nominations, - sots ; acceptance, 1 sots. 3. The Methvbn Grp, a handicap of 60 aovs and a sweep of 2 sots each (to be paid to the Secretary before 9 p.m. the night before the race) to go to the second horse. Distance, miles. Nomination, 2 sots ; acceptance, 1 sot. 4. Trotting Sack, a distance handicap of 12 sots. Distance, 3 miles. Nominations, 1 sot ; acceptance, 1 sot* 5. District Hurdle Race, a handicap dr 15 sots; OTer six flights of hardies, about 3ft Gin high. Distance miles. Nomination, 1 sots ; acceptance, 1 SOTS. 6. District Selling Hacs Race, of Ifc sovs ; the winner to be sold by auction immediately after the race for 10 sots, any surplus over that amount to go to the funds of the Club; catch weights. Distance, 1 mile. Entrance, 1 sot. 7. Consolation Handicap, of 15 sovs, for horses that have been beaten during the meeting. Nominations to be ' made to the Secretary immediately after the District Selling Race. Nomination, 1 rot ; acceptance free, to be made within ten minutes after the declaration of the weights. Distance, 1 mile. RULES AND REGULATIONS. 1. No entry ‘will be receiTod except on the condition that all disputes, claims and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by the Stewards, or whom they may appoint; their decision on ail points in carrying out the programme to be final. 2. Canterbury Jockey Club Racing Rules strictly adhered to. 3. A district horse shall mean any horse whose owner has resided in the Mount Hutt or South Rakaia Road Board districts, or Alford Forest as far as Bowyer’s Stream, thence along Thompson’s Track to Mitcham for three months immediately preceding the races, and has been their bond fide property during time4. Five per cant will be deducted om the gross of all monies payable In ajcordance with this programme for expen ses of the course. 5. All nominations and acceptances to the funds of the Club. NOMIN ATIONS AND ACCEPTANCES Nominations for Handicaps to be accompanied by fees, name, age, and performance of the horse and colors of the rider to be sent to the Secretary, addressed Methven Hotel, before 9 p.m. on Nov. 25th. Weights will be declared on Bth December.

Mount somers annual SPORTS AND RACES Will be held on BOXING DAY, DEO. 26, 1834. PROGRAMME. 1. Maiden Plate, of 5 aovs, with a sweepstake of 6s each. Entrance, ss; 1 mile ; post entries ; weight-for-age; for all horses which have never won an advertised race. 2. Handicap Tbot, of 8 sovs. Entrance, 10a; acceptance, 6a to go to second horse ;2£ miles ; post entries; no weight under list 71b. 3. ModntSomeesCup, handicap of 10 aovs. Entrance 10s; acceptance 10s to go to second horse ; 1£ miles; winner of Maiden to carry 7lb extra; entriea to be lodged with the Secretary before 7.30 p.m. on Dec. 19. 4. Pony Rice, of 3 sovs ; second 1 sov ; entrance, 6s ; height not to exceed 14£ hands ; f mile ; post entries; catch weights. 5. Shrfhkbd’s Race, of 5 aovs, with a sweep of 5a each for second horse. Entrance, 7s 6d; 1 mile ; post entries ; minimum weight list. 6. Novel Race, of 3 sovs, second horse to swe entrance fee ; $ mile; entrance, ss; post entries; catch weights. Will be run on the same principle as a donkey race, the last horse winning. RULES. 1, All races confined to district horses. 2. A district horse shall mean any horse that has been commonly resident in that portion of the old Mount Somers Road District lying south of the north Ashburton from 30th September, 1884, and up to the date of the forthcoming meeting, and owned by a person who has resided in the said district during feha same period. 3 The decision of the Committee or whom they may appoint to be final in all cases of dispute or on ail points iu carrying out the programme. 4. All horses must be ridden out aa long aa they have a reasonable chance of winning.
5. Three horses the bom fide property of d eferent owners to start or no race. 6. No protest will be entertained unless made within 30 minutes after the race is run, accompanied by a deposit of 20s, which may be forfeited should the protest prove frivolous. 7. Owners of horses must be subscribers of 10s to the fund. 8. Race No. 6 will be confined to em* ployees on stations paying rent for eraste lands of the Crown. First race to start at 11 a.m> 11 2218 W.
