A COMPLAINT.
To ihe Editor, Stinkle, stinlde, little lane, How we hope you won’t remain, In your usual state of stinkle. When owners disinfectants sprinkle.
Sib.—We have heard complaints about the levels of some roads in Ashburton, bot the subject I propose, with your kind help, to bring before the public and their municipal representatives is of far more concern, seeing that it affects the sanitary condition of the town. To come straight to the point, without any circombendibnsses, I refer to the execrable state of the right-of-way tanning at the back of that fine block of buildings known as Saunders’s Buildings. Who is accountable for that state, I know not; but what Ido ; knows, through my own nose—forgive me, Mr Editor, the slip of the pen and the bad' grammar, I should be sorry to get into bad odour with you. As I said, what I do know, is that the perfume which exhales from the accumulated refuse stored I in this sweet alley is not eau de (odour, I see it?) Cologne. Well, one might even say it would form a grand propagating I ground for the gentle cholera germ. Sir, I will you use your powerful pen to stop I this nuisance. Just give the parties who I should do the rectifying an inkling. Your I efforts might make those parties pensive I and produce, at least on that score, Iran- I anility at this here hotel.—l am, etc , J Disinfectant, I
