(bboteb's telegrams—copyright.) The Wool Sales. Melbourne, Yesterday. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, held their usual weekly wool sale to-day, when an important catalogue of some 4,300 bales was offered, and 3,700 sold. There was the usual large attendance ot buyers. Competition is increasing, and the market is firmer for good merinos. Inferior greasy crossbreds are slightly easier. Other wools are unchanged. At to-day's sale greasy merinos were-sold up to i4d, and greasy crossbreds to ii%d, scoured mtrinos to i9j£d. The San Prancisco Mail. •Sydney, ¥eßterday. Sailed, this afternoon—City ot Sydney, for San Francisco, via Auckland. Smallpox. Another case of smallpox occurred here to-day. Necessary Precautions. The Union Steamship Company of New Zealand issued stringent instructions to all agents for thorough medical examination of passengers by each outward steamer from the Australian ports, in order to prevent the introduction of smallpox in New Zealand.
