The Agent-General in London has telegraphed to the Government that Lord Derby in the House of Lords denied that the Imperial Government were hesitating to introduce an enabling Bill, and that he has no wish to withdraw from the pledge, and is sanguine that the measure pass without opposition. His Lordship added that he expected to receive in the spring replies from the colonies to the amendments] proposed in the draft Enabling Bill, and explained that the delay which was taking place would enable New Zealand and New South Wales to re-consider their positions, although the unanimity of the colonies in the matter was unnecessary (sic).
