Handicap Hurdle Race, of 25 sots (over six flights cf hurdles, about 3ft Gin high), and a sweep of 1 sot each, to be paid to the Secretary before 9 p.m. the night before the races; to go to the second horse Distance, miles. ThbMethven Ccp, a handicap of 50 sovs and a sweep of 2 sova each "(to bo paid to the Secretary before 9 p. m. the night before the race) to go to the second horse. Distance, miles. District Selling Hac\ Race, of 1® sovs ; the winner to be sold by auction immediately after the race for 10 sovs, any surplus over that amount to go to the funds of the Club; catch weights. Distance, 1 mile. Entrance. 1 sov. 7. Consolation Handicap, of 15 sovs, for horses that have been beaten during the meeting. Nominations to be made to the Secretary immediately after the District Selling Race. Nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance free, to be made within ten minutes after the declaration of the weights. Distance, 1 mile. RULES AND REGULATIONS. 1. No entry will be received except on the condition that all disputes, claims and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by the Stewards, oe whom they may appoint } their decision on all points in carrying out the programme to be final. 2. Canterbury Jockey Club Racing Rules strictly adhered to. 3. A district horse shall mean any horse whose owner has resided ~in the Mount Hutt or South Rskaia Road Board districts, or Alford Forest as far as Bowyer’s Stream, thence along Thompson’s Track to Mitcham for three months immediately preceding the races, and has been their bond fide property during a time4. Five per cent will be deducted from the gross of all monies payable in aicordance with this programme for expea ses of the course. 5. All nominations and acceptances to the funds of the Club. Nominations for Handicaps to be accompanied by fees, name, age, and performance of the horse and colors of the rider to be sent to the Secretary, addressed Methven Hotel, before 9 p.m. on Nov. 25th. Handicap Trot, of 8 sovs. Entrance, 10s ; acceptance, 5s to go to second horse ; miles ; post entries ; no weight under list 71b. 3. MountSomersCup, handicapof 10sovs. Entrance 10s; acceptance 10s to go to second horse ; miles; winner of Maiden to carry 7ib extra; entries to be lodged with the Secretary before 7.30 p.m. on Dec. 19. 4. Pony Rjce, of 3 sovs ; second 1 sov ; entrance, 5s ; height not to exceed 144 hands ; | mile ; post entries; i catch weights. 6. Shepherd’s Race, of 5 sovs, with A I sweep'of 5a each for secondsl^ii^. Entrance, 7s ,6d; 1 mile ; post entries ; minimum weight list. 6. Novel Race, of 3 sovs, second horse to save entrance fee ; £ mile; entrance, ss; post entries; catch weights. Will be run on the same principle as a donkey race, the last horse winning. RULES. 1. All races confined to district horses. 2. A district horse shall mean any horse that has been commonly resident in that portion of the old Mount Somers Road District lying south of the north Ashburton from 30th September, 1884, and up to the date of the forthcoming meeting, and owned by a person who has resided in the said district during the same period. 3 The decision of the Committee or whom they may appoint to be final in all cases of dispute or on all points in carrying out the programme.

4. All horses must be ridden out as long as they have a reasonable chance of winning. 5. Three horses the bona fide property of different owners to start or no race. 6. No protest will be entertained unless made within 30 minutes after the race is run, accompanied by a deposit of 20a, which may be forfeited should the protest prove frivolous. 7. Owners of horses must be subscribers of 10s to the fund. 8. Race No. 5 will be confined to employees on stations paying rent for waste lands of the Crown. First race to start at 11 a.m. 11 8818 W.
