A TERRIBLE OUTRAGE.

[by telegraph.] Christchurch, To-day. A brutal outrage was committed on a woman shortly after twelve o’clock last night by three young men, all of whom criminally assaulted her. From the statement of the woman it appears that they '' seized her and carried her to a paddock off the South Town Gelt, and two of them took turns in holding their hands over her mouth to step her screams while she was outraged. The men, whose names are Austin Tyrell, John Arthur Gotten and . William Peacock, have all been arrested.
