The North Trunk Railway. Mr Roohfort and party have commenced the survey of the Mam Trunk line at this end. Some little disappointment was experienced when it became known that the survey for preparing plana and specifications for the first section will tnlra a considerable time, and that tenders are not likely to be called for till the autumn. There is a good deal of actual work to be done in sounding of swamps, etc., and Mr Rochfort will shortly be by Mr Hursthouse and Mr Holmes. The Oosfcley Beanest. Last night at the,City Council the subject of the Costley bequest to the public library and its management was brought up. Some rather curious revelations were made as to the position and appointment of trustees and the whole subject was referred to a Committee to report to the Council. Death of a Nun. , WasgaSui, To-day, Sister Cecilia, in the convent here, ■ died this morning. She had been ailing two days only. She has been here about two months and came originally from GreymoUth, where her parents reside. ; The Governor. Dunedin, To-day.
