(PBE PEESH ASSOCIATION.] A Mystery. Napiee, To-day. About fire mouths ago a man was seen to throw himself of! the Tarradale bridge, and the body was never discovered. At the same time a person named Robert Thompson disappeared, and it was generally thought there was a connection be- . tween the suicide and the disappearance Yesterday the body of a man partially submerged in the sand was discovered at low tide on a mud bank in the lagoon. The body bad evidently been in the water a long time. From the state of the decomposition it was impossible to recognise him, but from the dress it is supposed to be Thompson. At the inquest held on the body, a verdict of found drowned was returned. Mayoralty. WAt'OAmji, To-day. Messrs Nathan and Spindle were nominated to-day for the mayoralty. H^lf-holiday. The assistants in business houses are agitating for a weekly half-holiday. Fire. Wellington, To-day. An unoccupied' six-roomed house at Wadestown, owned by Mrs Woodward was burnt down yesterday morning. It waa insured In the Liverpool and London and Qlobe office for L 260. The fire originated through a gorse fire spreading.
