Ashburton borough council. Notice is hereby given that the follow ing resolution was adopted by the Ashburton Borough Council at a special meeting held on Monday, the 13th day of October, 1884, at the Council Chambers, Burnett street, viz : “ That ths Lease of part Borough Reserve, No. 706, to the Ashburton Public Libraiy Trustees bo cancelled ; and that this Council assumes the control and management of the said Library ; and that the balance of the sum expended by the Library Committee in erecting the building, exclusive of fixtures and furniture, after paying off moitgage and interest, be invested with this Council at current rates of interest as ruling from time to time ; and that the said interest, together with subscriptions, donations, and all other moneys received on behalf of the Library, be expended in maintaining the same, and in the purchase of books or other reading matter, or works of art and science, or in the formation of a Museum ; and that this Council will recognise the rights and privileges of life members at present on the books of the Library, as if no change in the management had taken place.” A Special Meeting of the Ashburton Borough Council will be held in the Council Chambers, Burnett street, on TUESDAY, the 11th day of November next, at 7 o’clock in the evening, to confirm the above resolution CHARLES BRADDELL, Town Clerk.
