Saturday Return Tickets to Christchurch will be issued at Pukeuri, Waikari and intermediate stations, from the 7th to the 14th November, and will be available for return up to and including the 22nd 1 inst. PRINCE OF WALES BIRTHDAY. Saturday Return Tickets will be issued from any station to any station on the Bth or 10th November, and will be available up to and including the 17th inst. (Christchurch Section.) CHRISTCHURCH RACKS, 11th, 13th, and 14th NOVEMBER; AND AGRICULTURAL SHOW, 10th, 11th, AND 12th. Saturday Return Tickets to Christchurch will be issued at Pukeuri, Waikari, or any intermediate station from the 7th to the 14th November inclusive, and will be availablejfor return up to and including the 22nd. On the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th the evening train from Christchurch to Ashburton will leave at 4 50 p m, and run 35 minutes later than usual. On the 11th, 13th and 14th the morning train from Meth en to Rabaia will start at 6.40 a.m., same as on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. On the 12th it will start at 7.55 a.m., running as on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The evening train from Rakaia to Methven will start at 7 p.m. on the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th. In the 13th a special train will leave Ashburton for Cavendish at 11.5 a.m,, stopping where required. On the 12th, instead of the ordinary 7 30 a.m, train from Timaru to Christchurch, a train will run as under: Timaru ... Washdyke Temuka... Winch'ster Orari ... Rangitata Hinds ... Winslow... Tinwald ... Ashburton arr i> dep stopping to pick up or set down passengers at platform stations if required. On the 12th the morning train from Ashburton to Christchurch will start at 8 30 a.m. and be one hour and twenty minutes later than usual at each station at which it is timed, arriving at Christchurch at 11.30 a.m. On the 12th a train, which will take passengers, and also live stock returning from the Show, will leave Christchurch at 8 25 p.m. for Oamaru, arriving there at about 5.30 a.m., stopping where required to allow passengers to alight or to put off live stock. Goods traffic will bo entirely suspended on the 12th.

Notice is hereby given that the follow ing resolution was adopted by the Ashburton Borough <’ouncil at a special meeting held on Monday, the 13th day of October, 1884, at the Council Chambers, Burnett street, viz; “ That the Lease of part Borough Reserve, No. 766, to the Ashburton Public Libraiy Trustees be cancelled ; and that this Council assumes the control and management of the said Library ; and that the balance of the sum expended by the Library Committee in erecting the building, exclusive of fixtures and furniture, after paying oft mortgage and interest, be invested with this Council at current rates of interest as ruling from time to time ; and that the said interest, together with subscriptions, donations, and all other moneys received on behalf of the Library, be expended in maintaining the same, and in the purchase of books or other reading matter, or works of art and science, or in the formation of a Museum ; and that this Council will recognise the rights and privileges of life members at present on the books of the Library, as it no change in the management had taken place.” FREDK.
