County Hurdle Race (handicap), of 50 sova ; over six flights of hurdles, about 3ft 6in high ; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 2 sovs; second horse to receive 10 sovs from the stake, li miles. District horses only. 2. Maiden Plate, of 40 sovs ; weight for age ; entrance, 3 sovs. 1£ miles. 3. Ashburton Cup (handicap), of 200 sovs ; nomination, 2 sovs; acceptance, 6 sovs ; and a sweep of sovs, to be paid to the Secretary by 9 o’clock the night before the race, to go to the i second horse. l£ miles. 4. Ladies’ Purse, of 40 sovs; welter weights for age ; entrance, 3 sovs. miles. District horses only. 5. Welter Handicap, of 50 sovs ; minimum weight, Bst; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance. 2 sovs. 1 mile. 6. Post Stakes Handicap, of 20 sovs; ( nomination, 1 sov to be made immediately after the Welter Handicap is run ; acceptance free, to be made to the Secretary within ten minutes of declaration of weights. 1 mile. District horses only.

SECOND DAY. 1. Handicap Hurdle Race, of 60 sovs ; over eight flights of hurdles, about 3ft 6in high ; nomination, 2 sovs ; acceptance, 2 sovs. 2 miles. 2. Racing Club Handicap, of 120 sovs ; nomination, 2 sovs; acceptance, 3 sovs ; second horse to receive 20 sovs from the stake. 1J miles. 3. County Plate Handicap, of 40 sovs ; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 1 sov. 1£ miles. District horses only. 4 Flying Handicap, of 50 sovs ; nomination, 1 sov; acceptance, 1 sov. f miles. 5. Hunters’ Flat Race Handicap, of 50 sovs ; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 2 sovs ; for horses that have not won 25 sovs in one event on the flat ; minimum weight 10st. 2 miles. All horses starting for this race must qualify over a hurdle to the satisfaction of the Stewards. 6. Consolation Handicap, of 30 sovs ; nomination, 1 sov to be made immediately after the Hunters’ Flat Race is run ; acceptance, 1 sov to be made to the Secretary within ten minutes of declaration of weights. 1 mile. RULES AND REGULATIONS. 1. No entry will be received except on the condition that all disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by the Stewards, or whom they may appoint; their decision on all points c nnected with carrying out this programme to be final. 2. Canterbury Jockey Club Racing Rules strictly adhered to. 3. A district horse shall mean any horse that has been commonly resident in the Ashburton County from July Bth, 1884, and up to the date of the forthcoming meeting and owned by a person who has resided in the said County during the same period. 4. Five per cent, will be deducted from the gross of «>ll monies payable in accordance with this programme for expenses of the course.

5. All nominations and acceptances go to the funds of the Club. NOMINATIONS AND ACCEPTANCES All entries and nominations to be accompanied by entrance fees, name, and age of the horse, and colors of rider, and in the hands of the Secretary not later than 9 p.m. on Monday, October 20th. Weights for the first day’s handicaps and Open Hurdle Kace will be published on Saturday, November 15th. Weights for the other handicaps will be published at 8 o’clock on the evening of the first day’s racing. Acceptances fo* the first; day’s handicaps and Open Hurdle Race to be made to the Secretary not later than 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18th ; acceptances for other handicaps at 9 o’clock on the evening of the first day’s racing. N.B. —The attention of owners is particularly called to ths fact that no nomination or acceptance will be received unless it is lodged with the Secretary before the hour stated for closing.
