ELECTION ITEMS.
Mr S#anson addressed the electors of Auckland City West last night. He wonld pledge himself to no party, but act independently. A vote of thanks was carried, bat the meeting was very lively, and there was great uproar. Mr George Lumsden addressed the electors of Invercargill last night. The weather was bad, and the attendance only moderate. He received a vote of thanks. The temperance party met last night to hear the report of the Committee deputed to interview the Prrliamentary candidates. Mr Ha*oh had answered all the questions in the affirmative without reservation; Mr Lumsden and Mr Feldwick were in favor of leaving control of - the bottle licenses to the Licensing Benches. They also objected to interference with barmaid employment. - Mr Lumsden, however, went the length of favoring the Licensing Committees having power to deal with the question. On being potto the meeting, Mr Hatch was decided on to receive the support of the temperance party. The meeting was not at all unanimous, and sevofal declared they would vote as they thought proper. Colonel McDonnell addressed the Waverloy electors on Thursday night. He attacked Mr Bryce’s conduct with regard to Parihaka and Te Kooti. His speech was in many respects similar to one he delivered before. , Mr Shrimski addressed the electors of Oamarn last evening. The hall was crowded. He received a vote of thanks and confidence. Mr J. G. Wilson, candidate for I oxton, has addressed large meetings at Sanson and Awhuri, receiving unanimous votes of thanks and confidence at each place. (by telegraph.) New Plymouth, To-day. For the Egmont election Mr Fantham, who is opposing Major Atkinson, addressed the electors at Okato yesterday, and received a vote of confidence. Eightteen hands were held up for and one against it. . Dunedin, To-day. Mr Macandrew publishes in the press a long manifesto to the electors of Otago. He urges- them to return candidates pledged to eject the continuous Ministry, who in the matter of railways and public works have treated the district so shameffcily. He strongly supports the establishment of a Stato Land Bank to advance money to agriculturalists atJper cent. Auckland, To-day.
Mr Farnall, a candidate for Waitemata, received a vote of thanks at Devonport yesternight. Mr Lawry, a for Manukau, received a vote of confidence at Epsom.
