Ashburton Guardian Office, ' Wednesday Afternoon. Tinwald Live Stock Market.—Mr B. G. Staveley, for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited, reports on the 1 ' Tinwald Live Stock' Market under date Bth July :—Sheep: A moderate entry and dull sale, many lines being withdrawn. Fat crossbred wethers brought 14s and ewes 13s ; forward crossbred wethers made 12s s<i ; medium lambs, Js ; two and Jour-tooth mixed crossbreds, 13s gd.— Pigs : Small entry, porkers realised 26s 6d each —Cattle : A i air entry, blit little defaiand, except for beef, which sold at full rate's ; fat cows and heifers made L 5 2S 6d, L 5 ss, and LS 12s 6d ; bullocks, L 7 Ss ; dairy cows and springers, L 4 10s and L 5 10s ; grown bullocks, L 4 15 s J dry heifers, L 3 and X 3 12s 6d. " - Messrs friedlander Bros (m conjunction with Messrs R. Wilkin and Co, per Mr F. C. Tabart auctioneer), report on the live stock market for the week ending July 9th as follows Fat sheep :A me hum entry yarded, the greater portion of them were good to prime quality, and most of them' found buyers at fair market value. In stores there is very little of any kind coming forward ; farmers and oth r dealers are not yet so anxious to part with their stock on aepount of low prices, but we noticed at yesterday’s sale a slight improvement in this class, of sheep. Fat cattle :On account of there not being enough warded for our local bidding was rather brisk, which, according to our late sales, is something out of the common. In store cattle , there is still a dragging market. We quote For mutton from 2d to 2 }£d per lb; beef from 17s to 19s per loolb. . Messrs Matson, Cox an 1 Co., report upon the live stock market for the Ashburton district for the week ending July Bth, as follows: On Tuesday at the Tinwald yards we held our . usual saje of sheep, cattle, and pigs. The attendance.- was rather ■ better than at the late sales, and the bidding somewhat more spirited. The entry iiffat sheep comprised fat crossbred wethers and ewes and a few merino-wethers. In stores, crossbred ew’es, two-tooth crossbreds, and a fine'line of two-tooth crossbred wethers. Merino ewes are not coming forward, but we have'had several enquiries for good soundmouthed sheep in lamb to long-wooled rams. We quote mutton at 2%d to 2j£d per lb. Beef, second quality, 16s ; first quality, 18s to 19s per loolb. We sold 100 crossbred ewes *811133; 291 crossbred two-tooth stove wethers in forward condition at 13s pd. In pigs, 17 store pigs at Li 6s 6d, In cattle, 6 heifers at L 5 2s 6d; 1 cow, L3736d ; 2 heifers, L 3 17s 6d 12 heifers, L2 15s ; 2 yearlings, Li Ss 6d ; 2 fat stee'rs, L 7 10s ; 1 fat heifer, L 6 2s 6d ; 12 store steers, L 4 15s.
