ELECTION ITEMS.

The Hon. Mr Dick addressed the electors ef Dunedin West last night, and received a vote of confidence. Replying to a question, he emphatically denied that in the event of his defeat ho would be called to the Upper House. Sir George Grey addressed a meeting of his constituents at the Theatre Royal, Auckland, on Wednesday, and at its conclusion received an enthusiastic vote of thanks and confidence.

Mr Richardson received a vote of confidence at Kaiapoi last night. Messrs D. Reese and J. G. Ruddenklau, both of whom are candidates for the I Stanmore constituency, addressed the electors last evening, the former at Philipstown and the latter at Knightstown, Mr Reece received a vote of confidence and Mr Ruddenklau a vote of thanks. Mr Alfred Saunders, a candidate for Lincoln, apokeat Spreydon last evening. He announced himself as an inpependent candidate, and would not give a pledge of support to any party, but he considered that Sir Julius Vogel would make a good horse in a team if he had some steady shaftera.

[BY TELEGRAPH.] Wellington, To-day. Mr J. R. Brown, a candidate for Foxton, addressed a meeting at Karori and received a v<ste of confidence. Blenheim, To-day. Mr Joseph Ward addressed a crowded meeting of electors and received a vote of thanks. He follows Major Atkinson in preference to Sir Julius Vogel. Eumaba, To-day. Mr Seddon addressed the electors at Dillmanstown last night. Mr Guinness addressed the electors of Greymoutb at Westbrooke and received a unanimous vote of confidence. Dunedin, To-day. Mr James Gore has decided to contest Dunedin South. Mr Bathgate at Eoelyn last night received a vote of confidence. He said he wonld support the Catholics in their endeavors re school matters, and believed in a land and income tax as against the property tax.' He opposed an elective Upper House.
