The greatest intesest was taken in the match, and the weather being splendid. the attendance of the spectators was enormous. The visitors went in first, and scored 229. McHonnell, bl 5 ; Murdoch, c, 21; Scott, t>, 16 ; Black ham, Ibw, 69 ; Midwinter, hot out, 60; Boyle, o and h, 21. Mid~'wihtpr hatted splendidly, and never gave a chance. The Home team then vent in, ‘. apd at the .close of the day’s play had lost two. wickets for 91. .Grace was sot out - for 46 ; Studd, b, 10 ; Lucas, b, 18 ; *■ Bead, not out, 11.
